A Bordeaux Digital Week event (#SDBX5)
Technological developments in the field of digital publishing open new perspectives for content creators, and enable enhanced reading experiences.The disruptive nature of this evolution, combined with shifting consumer demand, offer opportunities to deliver innovative business solutions. More than ever, industry professionals engage in the collaborative development of technical standards and open-source software, aiming for long-term content accessibility and product interoperability.
Launched in 2013, the Readium Foundation objectives are to facilitate the development and the use of the EPUB format created by IDPF. The Readium Foundation focuses on developing open source tools to be used by the industry at large. The European Digital Reading Lab (EDRLab), European headquarter of both IDPF and Readium Foundation, organizes the first international EPUB Summit, an event dedicated to the publishing industry.
The 2016 EPUB Summit is a moment of collaboration, a unique chance to meet and share opinions, concerns, challenges and key achievements with European publishers, distribution platforms, digital stores, suppliers, authors, and public institutions to fully understand the potential of the EPUB format. During 2 days, the digital publishing actors will gather around deep analysis, demonstrations, workshops and collaborative work to share best practices and learn about the latest developments around the format.
Experts selected by EDRLab, the Readium Foundation and IDPF are to deliver key learnings and updates on the EPUB technology, as well as on the editorial and distribution aspects of digital publishing.

The European Digital Reading Lab (EDRLab)
EDRLab has become the European headquarter of both the International Digital Publishing Forum and the Readium Foundation. EDRLab’s main objective is to help provide a technical foundation for the European digital publishing ecosystem. To achieve this goal, EDRlab promotes the adoption of the EPUB 3 standard across Europe, and dedicates resources to Readium open source software developments. Founder members of EDRLab are: Editis, Hachette, Madrigall, Media Participations, Syndicat National de l’édition, Cercle de la Librarie, Centre National du livre, Cap Digital, the French Ministry of Culture and the French Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF)
The International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) is the global trade and standards organization dedicated to the development and promotion of electronic publishing and content consumption. IDPF develops and maintains the EPUB content publication standard.
The Readium Foundation
The Readium Foundation was formed in February 2013 as a non-profit membership organization. It develops software technology to accelerate adoption of EPUB and the Open Web Platform by the global digital publishing industry.
Bordeaux Digital Week
With over 70 events in twenty places, speakers from seven countries, the Digital Week is the great digital rendezvous in Bordeaux. The fifth edition will be held from April 6 to 9, 2016.
The EPUB summit will take place during the Bordeaux Digital Week at Librairie Mollat, in the city center.
